Veer Towers and the Mandarin Oriental at CityCenter
Celebrating the essence of a high-style, high-rise lifestyle, Veer Towers taps into the action of CityCenter’s dynamic core and makes urban living in Las Vegas a reality. The slender 37-story identical towers feature 400 residences and are the only all-residential buildings at CityCenter. Clad in clear, non-reflective glass, Veer Towers is the first truly transparent building in Las Vegas that creates a visual dialogue between its residents and the desert. The structures’ simplicity and dynamism is created through the façade’s staggered panels of clear and fritted yellow glass that animate the exterior with an enlivened shot of color. In addition, the staggered panels cut the desert glare while providing abundant natural daylight for interiors while horizontal louvers on the east, south and west façades create a repetitive texture that also provides shade from the desert sun. Designed by Murphy/Jahn Architects of Chicago, the development features two towers inclined at dramatic opposing angles 5 degrees from center. MANDARIN ORIENTAL A luxury five-star nongaming property, the 47-story Mandarin Oriental is a sophisticated sanctuary of modern elegance at the entrance of CityCenter. The striking exterior sits atop a podium of zinc, titanium, granite and limestone and rises vertically into a façade inspired by traditional Chinese motifs created by vertical panels of aluminum and glass interlocking with horizontal frit. Although it features an internalized entry experience that provides guests with a sense of seclusion, the Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas is oriented so it meets the boulevard and serves as a visual gateway to CityCenter.
