Aria Resort and Casino
Consisting of two curved glass-and-steel high-rise towers adjoined at the center, Aria Resort and Casino is considered the crown jewel of CityCenter and one of the most breathtaking hotels in Las Vegas. Opened in December 2009, Aria is owned by MGM Resorts International and Dubai World. Its architecturally unique and sustainable design complements Aria’s impeccable hospitality and personalized service. The structure features expansive spaces like a three-story lobby that are complemented by warm, intimate décor elements of reclaimed wood and native stone. Greeting guests at Aria’s arched porte-cochère are innovative water features like Lumia, which recycles water lit up with bright, vibrant colors as it shoots into arcs and twisting ribbons, and Focus, a curved 250-feet-long by 24-feet-high water wall that stretches across the front of the building. Guests also enjoy public art, such as Maya Lin’s “Silver River,” which depicts the Colorado River in 100-percent reclaimed silver flowing majestically above the registration desk. Conveniently a free tram runs between Bellagio and Monte Carlo with a stop at Crystals near the Aria Resort and Casino as well. BIG EDGE BY NANCY RUBINS Beyond its stunning architecture, CityCenter provides the CityCenter Fine Arts Collection of stunning public art pieces. One such piece in front of Vdara is Artist Nancy Rubins’s “Big Edge,” a sculpture that features more than 200 canoes, kayaks and rowboats designed to evoke “a blooming flower.”
