Lied Library
Since holding its first on-campus classes in 1957, University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) has developed from a small branch college of the University of Nevada into a thriving urban research institution of higher learning. Noted for its strong emphasis on science and technology, business management and its law program, UNLV has been deemed a “research-intensive university” by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. Along with the main campus, located about 1.6 miles east of the Las Vegas Strip, the university offers the Shadow Lane Campus just east of the University Medical Center of Southern Nevada, which houses the School of Dental Medicine (the only dental school in Nevada); the Paradise Campus just east of the McCarran International Airport; and a satellite campus in Singapore. UNLV’s law school, the William Boyd School of Law, is the only law school in Nevada. LIED LIBRARY Lied Library is an impressive, five-story landmark building on the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) campus. The Lied Library is the main branch of the UNLV University Libraries system, which also includes a Music Library, Architecture Library, Curriculum Materials Library and two virtual libraries (at the Shadow Lane and Singapore campuses). Across all the libraries, students benefit from more than 500 workstations and laptops available for checkout. Beyond being an award-winning, state-of-the art building, Lied Library also is a campus hub at the center of student learning and second only to the Student Union.
